Introduction

PawFile ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our pet resume generation service at pawfile.com.

What We Collect

We collect minimal data necessary to provide our service:

  • Pet Photos: Stored temporarily in your browser (sessionStorage/IndexedDB) for the duration of your session only. Photos are not uploaded to our servers except when processing with AI.
  • Pet Questionnaire Answers: Stored temporarily in your browser (sessionStorage) for the duration of your session only. This data is used solely to generate your pet's resume.
  • Share Data: When you create a shareable link, your pet's headshot and resume are stored in our database (Redis) for 30 days to enable public sharing.
  • IP Address: We temporarily store your IP address (for 1 hour) to prevent abuse through rate limiting. This data is automatically deleted after 1 hour.
  • Payment Information: All payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. Your credit card information never touches our servers. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

What We Don't Collect

We believe in minimal data collection. We do NOT collect:

  • User accounts or email addresses
  • Tracking cookies or web beacons
  • Third-party advertising trackers
  • Behavioral analytics data
  • Location data beyond IP address

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to provide PawFile:

  • Stripe: Payment processing. Your payment information is handled securely by Stripe and never stored on our servers. Stripe Privacy Policy
  • OpenAI: AI image and text generation. Your pet photos and questionnaire answers are sent to OpenAI for processing. Data is used only for generation and is not retained by OpenAI for training. OpenAI Privacy Policy
  • Upstash Redis: Temporary data storage for share links and rate limiting. Data is stored securely and automatically deleted based on retention periods. Upstash Privacy Policy

Your Rights

Under CCPA, GDPR, and other privacy laws, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Know: You can request information about what data we have about you.
  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of any data we hold. Note: We store minimal data, and most is automatically deleted (session data when you close your browser, rate limit data after 1 hour, share data after 30 days).
  • Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
  • Secure third-party services (Stripe, Upstash) with their own security certifications
  • Rate limiting to prevent abuse
  • Minimal data retention periods

Children's Privacy

PawFile is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at privacy@pawfile.pet.
